I am 49 years old and have worked in the construction related industry for the past fifteen years. For three years I worked for a chemical manufacturer helping to build a plant on the southwest side of Tucson. My next move was to Apcon Construction with responsilbities for Purchasing all plumbing related equipment, materials and fixtures as well as for Fleet Maintanence. Then I was hired by Royal Bath and Supply for inside sales and commercial quotes. Royal Bath was then Sold to Able Distributing where I continued with the same responsilities. I then had an opportunity, with a little help from the previous owners of Royal Bath and Supply, to join the sales team at Ironwood Winnelson with responsibilites for the Commercial portion of our business. I understand all too well the difficulties subcontractors face trying to get paid for completed work and the increasing difficulty manning jobs when the current competent labor force is dwindling. My goal is to get as many of my customers to understand the value of joining ACT and to actively help reach the legislative goals we all need to survive in this business.

Primavera’s employment services help near homeless and homeless adults learn new skills, enter or re-enter and succeed in the job market. Primavera WORKS is a not-for-profit staffing agency providing general labor, construction, assembly, warehouse, and janitorial workers. Primavera WORKS also has a crew available for hire, with one supervisor, for less than $370 for four hours. Crew jobs include: landscape clean-up, property maintenance, and debris removal. The Prisoner Re-Entry Partnership (PREP) is an employment-based program for recently released prisoners. PREP works with employers to match ex-offenders to jobs, offering incentives such as on-the-job training money and support services.

Clay Jackson grew up in Silver City NM. where he married Billie his wife of 22 years, they have a daughter, Sydney, 12, and a son, Tyler, 8. Clay has a varied background; He graduated from WMNU in Silver City, and has worked in the agriculture and ranching fields, for Las Cruses Oil Co. As a mechanic / welder for a road Construction Co. and as a Mill operator for Phelps Dodge Mining Co. in Tyrone NM.
Clay has been with Watson Chevrolet since April of 1994, and in 2003, George Meyer and Clay were asked to start a commercial department to take care of their current customers base that were business owners, so they could provide them business vehicles along with there personal cars and trucks. Since then their sales department has grown approximately 20 to 30% per year. They have added 3 more people in the commercial department to help with the growth.
Watson Chevrolet carries every thing from small cars for deliveries to 4500 flat beds. Clay don’t consider him-self a salesperson, he got into this business because he could no longer do the type of work he was doing because of his back injury. But he found that he really enjoy helping people get the right equipment for there companies, that fits into their budgets, and they didn’t get just sold something that is not going to do the job for them. Clay would rather not sell a vehicle to someone that does not meet their needs, than just sell one to get the sale.
